Goal Driven Management

At Acorn, we understand that not everyone is intrinsically motivated, hence it is important to drive home the need to set clear goals as well as set mini attainable checkpoints. Through activities, we guide students into the experience of both having realistic goals and conversely the folly of moving ahead without a set goal. They then apply these lessons by setting S.M.A.R.T goals for themselves.

Growth Mindset

Recent advances in neuroscience have shown us that the brain is far more malleable than we ever knew based on the work of Stanford psychologist Carol Dweck. A growth mindset is the belief that intelligence can be developed through hard work, the use of effective strategies. This module focuses on being aware of one’s current mindset and adopting a growth mindset in our goals, studies and relationships with others.

Learner’s Management

Every student learns, processes and retains information differently. Students have fun while discovering their preferred learning style and how to make use of their strengths to retain information during revision and making adjustments to maximize engagement in learning. They commit to changes in their study environment and craft out personal motivators that would exert a positive impact on their academic aspirations.

Time Management

Good time management allows you to focus on what matters and accomplish more in a shorter period of time. Many students are willing to spend hours on social media where they are affirmed, appreciated and heard. Value is not placed on academic grades and future careers are too far for consideration. This is the mindset shift that we hope to achieve through this module.

Student Profiling: Intrinsic Motivation

Why are people the way they are and how can we intrinsically motivate them?

The Reiss Motivation Profile is a tool that reveals a person’s fundamental values and motivation. The 16 motivators in life help us to understand ourselves and our students in greater depth by revealing what drives them and how to sustain that drive.

Emotional Management

With depression and anxiety plaguing this generation, it is important for us to help students see the distinct value they each possess. The fact that each individual has his or her own unique gifts and talents, played out through different personalities. We seek to empower students to respond in a positive and constructive manner.
