Motivation arises from an environment of need, of worth. Students are willing to spend hours on social media where they are affirmed, appreciated and heard. Value is not placed on academic grades and future careers are too far for consideration. This is the mindset shift that we are hoping to achieve through this module.
Students do a major activity, after which they find out certain stations may been fun but low in value. On the other hand, other students may have discovered that the more strenuous tasks gave them more points. Through this, they understand the relationship between time and value. Only then do we introduce important concepts of time-tabling and managing our priorities.
