The annual Friend of Singa (FOS) programme was first initiated in the year 1990, with an aim to give recognition to students who go the extra mile to show kindness, as well as empower students to lead their schools in a kindness campaign over a timespan of six months. With an underlying purpose to promote the essential values of kindness and graciousness in their schools.
More than 1500 students from 160 Primary and Secondary schools joined the Singapore Kindness Movement (SKM) and Acorn Training in February for this year's FOS 2016 programme. Students were introduced to the Design Thinking framework and given the opportunity to apply them in their planning and executing of smaller scale Kindness Movements in their schools.

Apart from this, students also had an enjoyable time of experiential learning including games, hands-on activities and group discussions where they could brainstorm for campaign ideas, kindness initiatives and so on. This would then translate into further discussions with teachers and friends back in their respective schools, and finally come alive through their various implementations reaching out to both students and the community alike.
Kindness, pass it on!
